This day marks the time of year where we mourn the fallen and count our blessings. This country would be nothing without those who gave their lives to preserve liberty. Because of them, we are blessed to live in a free country where the American dream is real - where our families can live, grow, and prosper - all because of our soldiers' willingness to put country above self. For their acts of valor, we owe a debt that can never be repaid; and

For families across the United States, there are difficult emotions associated with days like today. They represent great sadness and hope, grief and celebration, conflict and peace. Although we cannot erase your pain, please know that we will always stand by you. We will honor your loved ones' sacrifice. We will permanently etch their names into our hearts and minds, and we will lift you up in our thoughts and prayers; and

This Memorial Day, as we meet with friends and family, let us all pause and remember the fallen. Let us pray for our veterans, the brave men and women who currently serve in our Armed Forces, and their families. Remember that these families serve our nation by supporting their loved ones in uniform. We must pledge to act worthy of their sacrifices yearround. May God bless those that we have lost, and those that have served and continue to serve.

Now, Therefore, in honor and as a mark of respect for the
MEMORY OF THOSE WHO HAVE MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE IN DEFENSE OF OUR NATION, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS Governor of the State of Georgia, it is hereby
