EXECUTIVE ORDER

Ordered:

On March 3, 2019, a severe weather system moved into the state of Georgia producing thunderstorms, excessive rainfall, and tornadoes; and
This weather system resulted in substantial damage in Grady, Harris, and Talbot Counties; and
Due to downed trees, power lines, and debris, Georgia's network of roads may be rendered impassable in many areas of the affected counties, isolating residences and persons from access to essential public services; and
Assistance from the state of Georgia is necessary to provide for the public's safety, protect private property, and restore the social and economic welfare of the affected counties; and
Preliminary assessments from County Emergency Managers in conjunction with the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency detail a need for assistance in the above-mentioned counties; and
Georgia law vests the Governor in O.C.G.A. 38-3-51 with the authority to bring emergency situations under control by issuing orders, rules, and regulations to protect the safety and welfare of the public.
NOW, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED in me as Governor of the State of Georgia, it is HEREBY
That a State of Emergency exists in Grady, Harris, and Talbot Counties.
It is further

That all resources of the state be made available to assist in the ongoing response and recovery activities in the abovementioned counties.

It is further

That the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency activate the Georgia Emergency Operations Plan.

This Executive Order shall be valid for a period of five (5) days, beginning on March 4, 2019 and ending at 11:59 Pm on March 9, 2019.
