THE STATE OF GEORGIA
EXECUTIVE ORDER
BY THE GOVERNOR:

Whereas: Pursuant to O.C.G.A. 15-6-82, on January 30, 2019, an Executive Order was issued appointing members to a committee charged with investigating the Clerk of the Superior Court of McIntosh County, Ms. Rebecca McFerrin; and

Whereas: On March 1, 2019, the Georgia Department of Law transmitted to my office the committee's final report and recommendation regarding Ms. McFerrin; and

Whereas:

The committee concluded that the willful failure of Ms. McFerrin to fulfill her duties as the Clerk of the Superior of McIntosh County constitutes misconduct in office, recommended that Ms. McFerrin be suspended from office for a period of 60 days, and further recommended that the District Attorney for the Atlantic Judicial Circuit bring a removal petition against Ms. McFerrin.

NOW, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS Governor of the state of Georgia, it is hereby

Ordered: That pursuant to O.C.G.A. 15-6-82, Ms. Rebecca McFerrin is hereby suspended from the office of Clerk of the Superior Court of McIntosh County for a period of sixty days.

It is further

Ordered :

That District Attorney Tom Durden review the report of the committee to ascertain whether a removal petition should be brought against Ms. McFerrin and, if such a petition is appropriate, the District Attorney shall be authorized to bring said petition for removal on the basis of the report of the committee, allowing the citizens of McIntosh County to determine whether she should continue to serve as the McIntosh County Clerk of Court.
