THE STATE OF GEORGIA
EXECUTIVE ORDER

BY THE GOVERNOR:

Establishing the Georgians First Commission

Whereas : The State of Georgia has been recognized as the top state for business in the United States for six years in a row; and

Whereas: According to recent statistics by the U.S. Small Business Administration, 99.6% of Georgia businesses employ fewer than 500 employees, and these small businesses employ roughly 1,600,000 people; and

Whereas: Small businesses are the backbone of Georgia's economy, creating jobs and spurring growth across every region of our state; and

Whereas:

To secure the Peach State's designation as the best state in the nation for small businesses, it is imperative for entrepreneurs to review existing state regulations, policies, and procedures to streamline government, remove inefficiencies, and cut red tape; and

Whereas:

By championing common-sense initiatives and applying private-sector solutions to state government, Georgia stands to achieve this designation and further solidify its reputation as a global leader for economic opportunity.

NOW, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS Governor of the State of Georgia, it is hereby

Ordered: That the Georgians First Commission is hereby created to evaluate state government and identify regulations, policies, or procedures which negatively or unnecessarily impact small businesses.

IT IS FURTHER

Ordered:

That the Commission shall be composed of eighteen (18) members to be appointed by the Governor, and the Commission shall provide recommendations for streamlining the regulatory system to ultimately achieve the top ranking for small business in the United States.

Ordered: That the Commission shall report its findings to the Governor on or before June 30, 2020.
