FLAGS ON STATE BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS ORDERED LOWERED TO HALF STAFF
The Honorable John S. McCain III was a true American hero and public servant. His distinguished career includes 35 years of service in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives; and
Although his record of service in public office is quite impressive, he is equally known and loved for his honorable service in the United States Navy for 23 years; and
In his military career McCain attained the rank of Captain, was awarded Silver and Bronze Star Medals along with numerous other military honors and accolades, and bravely endured severe torture and injuries as a prisoner of war for over 5 years.
NOW, THEREFORE, IN HONORANDASAMARKOF RESPECT FOR THE
MEMORY OF JOHNS. MCCAIN III, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY
VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY
That in conjunction with the Proclamation of the President of the United States of America, the flag of the United States and the flag of the State of Georgia shall be flown at half-staff on all state buildings and grounds until sunset, on the day of his interment.
