On May 25, 2018, Patrol Officer Anthony Christie, 37, was killed in the line of duty while assisting with traffic control following a vehicle accident; and
Officer Christie joined the Savannah Police Department in December 2015 following 13 years of service in the U.S. Navy. He was a decorated war veteran, having received the Navy Achievement Medal, the Navy Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, and the Global War on Terror Service Medal; and
It is fitting and proper to recognize Officer Christie's service to the citizens of Chatham County, the State of Georgia, and the United States of America.
Now, THEREFORE, IN HONOR AND AS A MARK OF RESPEGr FOR THE
MEMORY OF OFFICER ANTHONY CHRISTIE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY
That the flag of the United States and flag of the Great State of Georgia be flown at half-staff in Chatham County, Georgia, on Saturday, June 2, 2018, the day of Officer Christie's honor procession, until sunset.
