THE STATE OF GEORGIA
EXECUTIVE ORDER

BY THE GOVERNOR:

FLAGS ON ALL STATE BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS ORDERED LOWERED TO HALF-STAFF

WHEREAS: On Monday, May 28, 2018, Americans will join in unity to observe Memorial Day, a day that pays tribute to the men and women who have fallen in service to our country in order to defend the freedoms we enjoy in the United States of America; and

WHEREAS: As American citizens, it is our duty and privilege to honor those who have bravely chosen to serve in the United States Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard; and

WHEREAS: As Georgians, we owe special recognition to three of our own who made the ultimate

sacrifice in service to our country since the last Memorial Day commemoration. May God

bless those we lost, comfort their loved ones, and protect those who continue to serve.

NOW, THEREFORE, IN HONOR AND AS A MARK OF RESPECT FOR THE MEMORY OF

STATES OF AMERICA, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY

ORDERED: That during the weekend immediately preceding Memorial Day (May 26 and 27), in honor

of the Georgians who gave their lives in defense of our countty, the flag of the United States

and the flag of the State of Georgia shall be flown at half-staff on all state buildings and

grounds.

IT IS FURTHER

ORDERED:

That on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, 2018, in accordance with 36 U.S. C. 174, the flag of the United States of America and the flag of the State of Georgia shall be flown at half-staff on all state buildings and grounds until noon, and then raised to the top of the staff.
