THE STATE OF GEORGIA
EXECUTIVE ORDER
BY THE GOVERNOR:

FLAGS ON ALL STATE BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS ORDERED LOWERED TO HALF-STAFF

WHEREAS: Along with her family and friends, the citizens of the United States mourn the loss of former First Lady Barbara Bush who passed away on Tuesday, April17, 2018; and

WHEREAS: As the wife of the 41st president, George H.W. Bush, and the mother ofthe 43rd president, George W. Bush, Mrs. Bush was only the second woman in American history to have a husband and son serve as President of the United States; and

WHEREAS: Mrs. Bush will be remembered for her advocacy for improving literacy worldwide, including founding the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy.

NOW, THEREFORE, IN HONOR OF AND AS A MARK OF RESPECT FOR THE MEMORY OF BARBARA BUSH, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY

ORDERED:

That in conjunction with the Proclamation of the President of the

United States of America, the flag ofthe United States and the flag of

the State of Georgia shall be flown at half-staff on all state buildings

and grounds until sunset on Saturday, April21, 2018, the day of her

interment.
