THE STATE OF GEORGIA
EXECUTIVE ORDER

BY THE GOVERNOR:

Flags on State Capitol Building and Grounds and Judicial Buildings throughout Georgia
Ordered Lowered to Half Staff

Whereas: The Honorable P. Harris Hines, retired Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018; and

Whereas:

Justice Hines was a well-respected and beloved jurist, as he served on the bench for more than four decades, including as a judge of the State Court of Cobb County, as a Superior Court Judge of the Cobb Judicial Circuit, and as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia for more than 23 years; and

Whereas:

It is fitting and proper to recognize Justice Hines' service to the United States of America and the State of Georgia by lowering flags on the State Capitol building and grounds, and all judicial buildings and grounds throughout the state of Georgia on the day of his interment.

NOW, THEREFORE, IN HONOR AND AS A MARK OF RESPECT FOR THE MEMORY OF the Honorable P. Harris Hines, pursuant to the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Georgia, it is hereby

Ordered:

That the flag of the United States of America and the flag of the State of Georgia be flown at half-staff on the State Capitol building and grounds, and all judicial buildings and grounds throughout the state of Georgia on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, the day of his memorial, until sunset.
