On October 9, 10, and 12, 2018, a State of Emergency was declared for multiple counties within the state of Georgia in response to Hurricane Michael through November 6, 2018; and
Early voting locations in Miller and Seminole Counties are located in the State of Emergency area and were forced to close on October 15, due to the impact of Hurricane Michael, including loss of power; and
The first day of early voting for the upcoming November 6,2018 election fell on October 15, 2018; and
Pursuant to O.C.G.A. 38-3-51, et seq., the authority is vested in the Governor to issue reasonable orders, rules and regulations deemed necessary to protect public health, safety and welfare, and bring the emergency situation under control within the acknowledged limitations of the powers of the Governor.
NOW, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS Governor of the state of Georgia, it is hereby
That elections offices in Miller and Seminole Counties are permitted to delay the commencement of early voting to ensure that their facilities and equipment are operational and secure, and that their personnel can safely travel to work.
IT IS FURTHER
That Miller and Seminole Counties commence early voting as soon as they safely can and compensate for lost early voting time by opening for an additional two (2) hours each day Monday through Thursday, October 2225, 2018.
