THE STATE OF GEORGIA
EXECUTIVE ORDER
BY THE GOVERNOR:

WHEREAS:

The State of Georgia holds title to approximately 150 acres of improved real property (the "Property"), by virtue of a Warranty Deed dated September 1, 1937, from Georgia Association of Future Farmers of America being recorded in Deed Book 28 Pages 356 in the office of the Clerk of Superior Court of Newton County; and

WHEREAS: Said Property is in the custody of the Department of Education (the "Department") and was acquired as part of the Georgia FFA-FCCLA Center; and

WHEREAS:

The Property is improved with a building identified as the Georgia Power Building, which is approximately 5,471 square feet, and an adjacent pavilion (the "Structures"), as shown on that As-Built Survey attached hereto as Exhibit A, and incorporated herein by reference; and

WHEREAS: Said Structures are identified by the Department to be demolished so that construction of a new dining hall facility can begin; and

WHEREAS:

The State School Superintendent on June 27, 2016, recommended the demolition of the Structures and requested that the State Properties Commission seek an Executive Order from the Governor to allow for the razing, demolition, and disposal of the Structure as in the best interest of the State of Georgia in construction of the new dining hall facility.

NOW, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY

ORDERED:

The Department of Education is hereby authorized and directed to provide for the razing, demolition and disposal of said Structure under the terms and conditions which are deemed to be in the best interests of the State of Georgia.
