FLAGS ON STATE CAPITOL BUILDING AND GROUNDS ORDERED LOWERED TO HALF-STAFF

The Honorable Julian Bond, Civil Rights icon, politician, educator, and writer, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2015; and
Julian Bond served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1967 until 1975 and in the Georgia State Senate from 1975 until1986; and
It is both fitting and proper to remember and honor Mr. Bond for his service, not only to the state of Georgia, but also to people across the country.
NOW, THEREFORE, IN HONOR AND MEMORY OF THE HONORABLE JULIAN BOND, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY
That the flag of the United States and the flag of the State of Georgia shall be flown at half-staff on the State Capitol building and grounds on Saturday, August 22, 2015, the day of his funeral, until sunset.
