Executive order, 2015 April 23

THE STATE OF GEORGIA
EXECUTIVE ORDER
BY THE GOVERNOR:

FLAGS ON STATE BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS ORDERED LOWERED TO HALF STAFF

WHEREAS:

Today, the Georgia Southern Community, the families and friends affected and the citizens of Georgia mourn the loss of the students who lost their lives and the two who are seriously injured following a tragic automobile accident; and

WHEREAS:

Emily Clark from Powder Springs, GA, Morgan Bass from Leesburg, GA, Abbie Deloach from Savannah, GA, Catherine (McKay) Pittman from Alpharetta, GA, and Caitlyn Baggett from Millen, GA will all be remembered for their love of helping others as future nurses in the Georgia Southern Nursing Program; and

WHEREAS: Two additional students were seriously injured, including Brittney McDaniel from Reidsville, GA and Megan Richards from Loganville, GA who are currently being treated for their injuries; and

WHEREAS: The people of Georgia share the grief of the families and friends of those who were injured or killed, and we pray for their comfort and healing in the days to come.

NOW, THEREFORE, IN HONOR AND AS A MARK OF RESPECT FOR THOSE AFFECTED BY THIS TRAGEDY, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY

ORDERED: That the flag of the United States and flag of the Great State of Georgia be flown at half-staff on all State buildings and grounds on Friday, April 24, 2015, until sunset.
