THE STATE OF GEORGIA
EXECUTIVE ORDER
BY THE GOVERNOR:
WHEREAS: On December 24, 2015, due to a series of severe weatber systems that moved tbrough the State of Georgia, a State of Emergency was declared in Fannin, Gilmer and Pickens Counties; and
WHEREAS: Because another series of severe weather systems continues to move through the State of Georgia resulting in excessive rain causing extensive flooding, damages, threats to life, and injuries in Gilmer, Gordon, Macon, Pickens, Towns, Troup and Wilkes Counties; and
WHEREAS: The assistance of the government of the State of Georgia is necessary to protect tbe public health, preserve the safety of the public, keep property damage to a minimum, and restore the social and economic welfare of these counties; and
WHEREAS: In light of tbese circumstances and with the autbority vested in the Governor by virtue of Article 3, Section 38-3-51, of tbe Georgia Emergency Management Act of 1981, as amended to issue reasonable orders, rules and regulations as are deemed necessary to protect public healtb, safety and welfare, and to bring the emergency situation under control within the acknowledged limitations of tbe powers of tbe Governor.
NOW THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY
ORDERED: That tbe State of Emergency issued on December 24, 2015, is hereby extended to include the following seven (7) counties: Gilmer, Gordon, Macon, Pickens, Towns, Troup and Wilkes.
IT IS FURTHER
ORDERED:
That all resources of the State of Georgia be made available to assist in tbe response and recovery activities currently being undertaken in the above mentioned counties, and tbat the Georgia Emergency Management Agency/Homeland Security activate tbe Georgia Emergency Operations Plan.
This Executive Order shall be valid from December 30, 2015, and ending at 12:00 am on January 7, 2016.
