THE STATE OF GEORGIA
EXECUTIVE ORDER
BY THE GOVERNOR:
w HEREAS:
The 2000 Georgia General Assembly passed Senate Bill 399, creating the Georgia Greenspace Commission for the purpose of administering the state program for the protection of greenspace throughout Georgia; and
vv HEREAS:
Greenspace is defined as land and water resources which are generally undeveloped and in a natural state; and
w HEREAS:
The permanent protection of greenspace will provide numerous benefits such as water quality protection for rivers, streams and lakes, flood protection, wetlands protection, reduction of erosion, protection of riparian buffers and other areas that serve as natural habitats and corridors for native plants and animal species, scenic protection, archaeologic and historic resource protection, and the provision of outdoor recreational opportunities; and
w HEREAS:
Senate Bill 399 provides that the Georgia Greenspace Commission shall be composed of the commissioner of the Department of Natural Resources, the director of the State Forestry Commission and three members to be appointed by, and who shall serve at the pleasure of, the Governor, and which bill was signed by me on April 16,2000, as Act 500 and became effective on that day;

NOW THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY
That the following persons be, and they are hereby, appointed as members of the Georgia Greenspace Commission in accordance with Senate Bill 399:
