BY THE GOVERNOR:

WHEREAS Georgia needsa statewide focal pomt for efforts to assistGeorgia's md~taryfacihtles, and

WHEREAS There ISa needand a desireto stimulate the developmentof pnvate sector busmessfrom defensetechnology, and

WHEREAS

The Georgia DefenseInitiauve was origmally createdm 1993to coordinatethe state'spreparationand responseto the 1995federal Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process,to promote private sector investment and employment opportumties basedon defensetechnology and to assurethat Georga's plan for ecOnonucdevelopmenttakes into fidl accountthe long-range optIons and reahtles of Georgia's defense facilities, and

WHEREAS

A Mihtary Affairs Coordmating Committee was createdby executive
order m 1994asa part of the Georga DefenseImtiative and whose memberswere appointedto representa broad spectrumof regonal avdlan and mihtary interestsfrom all acrossGeorgia7suchexecutive order and suchcomrmttee havmg expired on January 1I, 1999,

NOW, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY

ORDERED

That the Military Affairs Coordmating Committee shall be reestabhshed and shall advise the Governor on military and cIvIlian relattonships, shall evaluatestrateges to addvalue to Georga's defenseinstallations, shall assistm the developmentof regional strateges m regardsto adclalonal BRAC heanngs,and shall study quahry of hfe issuesfor military personnelin Georga
