EXECUTIVE ORDER

It is timely to institute a study of the costs and benefits of the workers' compensation laws of Georgia and to evaluate whether the current system is meeting the needs of injured workers and serving Georgia's business sector in a competitive marketplace both regionally and nationally; and
A workers' compensation study commission would benefit all workers, employers, and providers of services to workers and employers in the workers' compensation system, and there shall be created the Governor's Workers' Compensation Advisory Commission for the purpose of reviewing and evaluating the current laws and procedures affecting workers' compensation in Georgia and making recommendations on necessary changes which will benefit all of Georgia;

IT IS FURTHER
That all members of the State Board of Workers' Compensation shall serve as members ex officio of the Governor's Workers' Compensation Advisory Commission.
IT IS FURTHER
That Mr. Michael Jablonski shall serve as Chair and Mr. John Ross shall serve as Vice Chair of the Governor's Workers' Compensation Advisory Commission.
IT IS FURTHER
That regular meetings shall be held at such time and place as designated by the Chair or Vice-Chair and that members of the Commission shall serve without compensation but shall be reimbursed for travel and other reasonable and necessaiy expenses incurred while attending meetings of or on behalf of the Commission. Nonstate employees and legislators will receive the same per diem as that received by members of the General Assembly for attendance at meetings of the Commission.

IT IS FURTHER
That the Commission shall make interim reports as directed by the Governor or the Chair and shall make a final report to the Governor not later than April 15, 2001, at which time the Commission shall stand abolished.
