THE STATE OF GEORGIA
EXECUTIVE ORDER

BY THE GOVERNOR:

WHEREAS: By Executive Order dated May 20, 1985, The Martin Luther King, Jr. State Holiday Commission was created to provide advice and guidance to state and local governments and to private organizations that
desire to hold ceremonies and other appropriate activities relating to the observance of the state
and federal holiday honoring Martin Luther King, Jr.; and

WHEREAS: There remains a need for a state commission for the
purpose of encouraging appropriate ceremonies to commemorate the deeds and accomplishments of Dr. King, one of Georgia's most distinguished citizens.

NOW, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY

ORDERED: That the Martin Luther King, Jr. State Holiday Commission is reestablished with the same authorities and duties as mandated under the aforementioned and subsequent executive order.
