THE STA TE OF GEORGIA
EXECUTIVE ORDER

BY THE GOVERNOR:
WHEREAS: The historical, cultural, archeological, and architectural heritage of our state is of great value and importance to Georgia and contributes significantly to economic vitality through tourism, construction renovation and rehabilitation and revitalized neighborhoods and cities; and
WHEREAS: Current trends in growth and development, technology,.infrastructure development and government funding of programs and services all have significant impacts on the direction of historic preservation efforts; and
WHEREAS: The Georgia General Assembly has determined there is a need to study the role of historic preservation as it relates to economic development and tourism, as well as strategies for enhancing historic preservation into the twenty-first century; and
WHEREAS: The 1998 General Assembly passed Senate Resolution 552, creating the Joint Study Committee on Historic Preservation, and which resolution was signed by me as Governor and became effective on April 20, 1998 as Resolution Act 106; and
WHEREAS: Senate Resolution 552 provides that the Governor shall appoint eight members to the Joint Study Committee on Historic Preservation;
NOW THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY
ORDERED: That the following named persons be and they are hereby appointed as members of the Joint Study Committee on Historic Preservation.

ORDERED:

That the forenamed members shall serve at the pleasure of the Governor and shall, according to Senate Resolution 552, along with members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor and Speaker and ex officio members, submit a report of findings and recommendations to the Governor and General Assembly on or before December 1, 1998, and that the committee shall stand abolished on December 31, 1998.
