Fox News: Gov. Brian Kemp Slams Dem Proposed COVID-19 Stimulus Bill That `Bailout' States For Mismanagement" "It's kind of outrageous, quite honestly, that states are being penalized for having a good economy or low unemployment. Meanwhile, the states that don't have a strong economy are getting a bailout. It doesn't make much sense to me. Very frustrating. We're going to be working through our congressional delegation and letting others know that this is just bad policy," Governor Kemp said. Read the full article here here.
Breitbart: Gov. Brian Kemp: Faith Protection Act Will Make Georgia a `Sanctuary State for People of Faith' The Faith Protection Act making Georgia a "sanctuary state for people of faith" is enacted into law, Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) said on Wednesday's edition of SiriusXM's Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow. Kemp contextualized the proposed legislation as a response to assorted lockdown and shutdown decrees ostensibly issued by various state and local authorities as public health measures to reduce COVID-19 transmission. "I want Georgia to be known as a sanctuary state for people of faith," Kemp declared. "I think we've seen around the country there have been a lot of people in power, especially governors around the country, that have denied people that right of religious freedom, if you will, to be able to worship."

WRDW: `Make it easy to vote, but hard to cheat': Kemp talks proposed election law changes Gov. Brian Kemp says he supports proposed legislation to require photo ID to vote absentee in Georgia elections. Kemp said because of the large volume of absentee by mail votes in the Georgia 2020 presidential election, it created voter confidence issues. He said the General Assembly is working on systems to secure the votes in elections, while not causing any voter suppression. "Put in photo ID on absentee votes by mail, just like we do for our in-person voting," Kemp said. "I think most of our citizens think that that is very reasonable. To make sure that we protect and secure the sacred right that we have to cast a ballot. To do that secretly, and make sure it's counted." Read the full article here.
WTOC: Gov. Kemp reflects on Ahmaud Arbery's death, promises changes in Georgia Some change has come in the year since Ahmaud Arbery's killing. Right now in the Georgia Statehouse, there's bipartisan support for repealing the state's citizen's arrest statute. Governor Brian Kemp sat down with WTOC to reflect on the one year anniversary of Arbery's death. Kemp said he feels Arbery was a victim of vigilante-style violence that has no place in Georgia. "It's unthinkable that things like this happen, and they do," said Kemp. "I just think it's the right thing to do," Kemp said. "What we saw in the Ahmaud Arbery case is not, you know... that's not the state of Georgia I know. We're better than that."
