Governor Perdue Announces Plans for State Luncheon Honoring U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon

ATLANTA Today Governor Sonny Perdue announced the plans for the upcoming State Luncheon honoring United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon that will take place on Thursday, May 8, 2008. The State Luncheon will be hosted by the Governor and First Lady at the Governor's Mansion in Atlanta.
"Mary and I are delighted to welcome Secretary-General Ban to Atlanta," said Governor Sonny Perdue. "We have a diverse group of distinguished guests from across the state to give the Secretary-General a true Georgia welcome."
The Secretary-General will arrive at the Governor's Mansion at Noon where he will be greeted by Governor Perdue and the First Lady. The Georgia National Guard will also have a joint color guard and escort on hand to render appropriate honors.

The Secretary-General and the Governor will have a private meeting in the family sitting room of the residence. They will then enter the state drawing room where they will make remarks to the media and take questions. The Governor, First Lady and the Secretary-General will then join the guests in the ballroom.
Approximately 130 distinguished Georgians will attend as guests of the Governor and First Lady. These guests are leaders from Georgia's governmental, educational, religious, cultural and military communities. A separate luncheon in honor of the Secretary-General is being hosted by Georgia's business community on Friday.
Guests at the luncheon will dine on a menu of Georgia grown and raised products. The menu was designed by Holly Chute, executive chef at the Governor's Mansion. The salad will feature grilled quail with a creamy garlic dressing. Following that will be an entre of pecan crusted catfish complimented by cheese grits, okra and tomatoes. The dessert will be an individual peach tart with vanilla ice cream.
This State Luncheon is the first during Governor Perdue's term as Georgia's 81st Governor. It takes place during a two-day visit to Atlanta by Secretary-General Ban. The details and logistics of the State Luncheon are being coordinated by Chris Young, chief of protocol for the state of Georgia.
Guests who have confirmed they will be attending the State Luncheon
