Governor-Elect Perdue Surveys Storm Damage

Pickens Co. - Governor-Elect Sonny Perdue today joined Georgia Emergency Management Agency Director Gary McConnel and Adjutant General of Georgia Major General David Poythress in surveying the damage done by severe storms last night.
Perdue issued the following statement on the damage:

I have just returned from surveying damage caused by last night's severe storm with Georgia
Emergency Management Agency Director Gary McConnel and Adjutant General of Georgia Major General David Poythress.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families affected by this tragedy and we are deeply grateful
that it appears Georgia suffered no fatalities from the storm.
I assure the affected communities that I will support any steps taken by the current administration
to provide them assistance.

Perdue and Poythress canceled plans to attend a Veterans Day ceremony in Macon this morning and contacted McConnel prior to joining him in assessing the damage wrought by the storm.
