Governor to plant environmentally friendly tree at Mansion

ATLANTA Governor Sonny Perdue, First Lady Mary Perdue will plant an Athena Elm tree donated by the Metro Atlanta Landscape and Turf Association at the Governor's Mansion, Friday, October 31, at 3:00 p.m. The Athena Elm will replace a tree previously destroyed by thunderstorms earlier this year. The Governor will highlight fall and winter planting, which is an environmentally sound time to plant. Mild temperatures during the winter season allow trees, shrubs, and many other plants to rot with a minimum of watering.
