2021 Legislative Session Convenes
The House and Senate officially convened on Monday, January 11th for the first day of the 2021 Legislative Session. The day was filled with official activities, such as the swearing-in of several new House and Senate members.
The House elected David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) as Speaker of the House and also elected Representative Jan Jones (R-Milton) as Speaker Pro Tempore. Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan will preside over the Senate. Butch Miller (R-Gainesville) was elected to serve as President Pro Tempore the Senate.

Governor Brian Kemp gave his State of the State Address as members of the House and Senate convened for a joint session on Thursday, January 14th, at 11AM. Governor Kemp welcomed members to the 2021 Legislative Session and highlighted his proposals for the upcoming year.

New House and Senate Committees
The 2021 Legislative Session brings several changes to the membership of Legislative Committees in the General Assembly. Senator Randy Robertson (R-Cataula) is the newly appointed Senate Retirement Committee Chair. We are still awaiting information about the membership of House Committees at this time.
