Congratulations to 3M Winners!
The 3M Corporation in cooperation with the American Association of School Librarians sponsors the "3M Salute to Schools". The program is an indication of 3M's support for education and technology and AASL's dedication to library programs that support the teaching and learning environment.
The recipients of the "3M Salute to Schools" donation will receive, free of charge, up to two 3M detection systems for the entrance/exit of their media center, including a supply of Tattle-TapeTM Security Strips for marking library materials and materials processing accessories - a package with an average value of $15,000.
This years recipients from Georgia include:
Benjamin E Mays High School, Atlanta, GA J. L. Newbern Middle School, Valdosta, GA Thomasville High School, Thomasville, GA Woodland High School, Cartersville, GA
Long May We W.A.V.E.
Linda Wahlig of North Springs High School and Jill Rose of Riverwood High School put their heads together and decided that we media specialists need to do a little more promotion. They were looking at an article about the Rutgers library study department and decided that we need to advertise more. Linda and Jill came up with this slogan/acronym WAVE --We Add Value to Education. They visualize WAVE as a May campaign with summery posters and the like or perhaps a statewide theme (in light of budget cuts) to promote the value of libraries in schools.
