Greetings CTAE Family!
Today, we enjoy the tremendous support of the State School Superintendent, Dr. John D. Barge. We also have one hundred percent support from the Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Mike Buck and from the entire leadership at the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE). I truly believe that we are experiencing the greatest support that CTAE has ever seen. In addition to support at the DOE, we have support from legislators, business, and industry partners.
Dr. Barge is focused on "Making Education Work for All Georgians." Therefore, each of us in CTAE must be committed to doing our part in making sure that education does work for all Georgians. Let's all work together to ensure that students are more prepared for a career or college when they finish their high school education.
Over the next few months, we will make quite a few changes to the College and Career Clusters as we work to align with the Federal Clusters and integrate the Common Core Curriculum. We will have many opportunities for you and your CTAE teachers to join us as we work on improving the clusters and pathways. This is a very large undertaking and will require assistance from all

FY12 Perkins Five-Year Compliance Reviews
The CTAE Region Coordinators have completed the majority of the forty FY12 Perkins Five-Year Compliance Reviews. Without the involvement and support of the local CTAE Directors, supervisors, instructors and team members this would not have been possible. The Region Coordinators thank all of you for your help.
Completing the Grant Application Process on the Consolidated Application
CTAE Directors:
Please review the "Program Status" screen in the Consolidated Application to ensure that all your grants have been designated "Approved" under the Budget Status tab and "Program Manager Signed-off under the "DC (Data) Status" tab. If any grant indicates "Program Manager Revisions Requested," you must review the "Audit Trail" to see the revisions that are requested, and then make the changes and sign-off. If any grant shows only "coordinator sign-off," contact your superintendent and request that he/she signs-off on the specific tab that requires sign-off. All grants must be signed-off before November 30, 2011, or systems will risk losing their grant funding. Please give this issue your immediate attention!

Construction Education Foundation of Georgia (CEFGA) Continues Connecting Industry to Education
Careers in Construction Week (CICW) has been yet another success this year! About 20 schools participated this year through field trips, guest speakers, demonstrations and various other means to reach out to young people in the architecture, construction and engineering courses around the state. Along with the CICW activities, CEFGA has begun working with SkillsUSA and the other education foundations to coordinate another outstanding Career Expo in March. The planning team for the construction area held the first planning session. This year there will be an effort to help the Georgia Department of Education to draw attention to the Department of Labor career clusters and how our Career Pathways tie in. This year's Expo logo will even reflect the different clusters represented at the Expo and by SkillsUSA. The expectation is that this year's SkillsUSA State Championships and Career Expo will be the biggest and best! The hope is that the attendance will top 7,000 attendees. We hope to see everyone there on March 15-17, 2012, for the SkillsUSA State Championships and Career Expo!
Thank you for your patience during this busy time. Healthcare, Public Safety, Cosmetology and ACCT programs, please submit any suggestions for professional development classes you would like to have offered to Phyllis Johnson, pjohnson@doe.k12.ga.us.

Work-Based Learning and Youth Apprenticeship
2012 Youth Apprenticeship Assessment and 2012 Work-Based Learning Data Report
The updated Youth Apprenticeship Annual (YAP) Assessment for 2012 is now on the GaDOE website available for download. Each system receiving the YAP grant is required to submit this document by April 2, 2012. This is a system report, not a school report. Systems with multiple schools must compile the data relevant to the Youth Apprenticeship Program into one report for the entire school system. This document must be submitted by the CTAE Director of each system receiving the YAP grant. Instructions for submitting are included in the document. Each YAP coordinator is encouraged to download the document now and compile the data as the year progresses.
The updated Work-Based Learning (WBL) Data Report for 2012 is now available on the GaDOE website available for download. This report is relative to all WBL students, except for Youth Apprenticeship students. Each WBL coordinator supervising students in cooperative education (coop), internships, or employability skill development (ESD) must submit this report by April 2, 2012. The WBL Data Report is a school level report by coordinator. Schools that have multiple coordinators should have each coordinator submit a report. This document is submitted directly by the coordinator. Instructions for submitting are included in the document.

Each WBL coordinator is encouraged to download the document now and compile the data as the year progresses.
In situations where a school-wide coordinator also serves as the YAP coordinator (as in most single high school systems), two reports must be submitted. The YAP Assessment will contain data relevant to the YAP students and the WBL Data Report will contain the data relevant to all other WBL students.
Region Meetings for YAP/WBL Coordinators The state is divided into six regions for support of WBL/YAP coordinators. All WBL coordinators are encouraged to attend these meetings.
