End of Pathway Assessment Update

In preparing for FY2011 End-of-Pathway Assessment (EOPA) activities, a renewed focus has been placed on ensuring that the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) are being covered in our CTAE classrooms. This renewed focus provides our CTAE instructors with a roadmap of current, industry-validated standards that should be taught, and ensures that our students will be better prepared to earn valuable credentials that will assist them in their career endeavors.

GaDOE/CTAE web page updates at www.gadoe.org/ci_cta.aspx
The addition of Georgia Career Pathways and Georgia Assessments graphic links are two updates to the Georgia Department of Education's CTAE home page to improve access to standards and assessment information.
Georgia Career Pathways link was made to streamline access to approved GPS curriculum for Program Concentration pathways and curriculum standards all on one web page and accessible by clicking on the appropriate program link. Local administrators and teachers can access the Georgia Assessments link to find End of Pathway Assessment Information Sheets for each of the state-approved assessments. The new assessment web page provides access to Program Concentrations' tests aligned to the each Career Pathway for students that are Pathway Completers.
Updates are ongoing for each Program Delivery, Development & Transition, and Accountability web pages. Please visit www.gadoe.org/ci_cta.aspx often for additional updates.

End-of-Pathway Assessment Update
The CTAE Division would like to commend each system that submitted an FY2011 CTAE Assessment Funding Request Document. Additionally, we would like to provide clarity on school personnel that may serve as site coordinators and/or proctors for End-of-Pathway Assessment (EOPA) testing.
1. Typically each school site ordering exams will need an individual that will serve as the site coordinator and/or proctor. Systems may use one individual as both or use a different individual for each activity. a. The site coordinator is the individual that will place orders for exams directly through the testing agency and will enter student data into testing vendor's database as a part of the ordering process. This person may be an administrator. b. A proctor monitors students during the testing process. Any professional individual in the school may act as a proctor and may be any number of staff members. CTAE Administrators should work with school (or test) site principals to designate site coordinators and proctors.
2. Once the site coordinator and the proctor have been designated, exams should be ordered directly from the testing agencies. Please refer to the Assessment Information Sheets in the EOPA Assessment Manual or to the CTAE/GaDOE Assessment webpage to find instructions on ordering exams for each pathway.
3. If you, or your site coordinators/proctors, have questions about the End of Pathway Assessment process, please feel free to contact the CTAE Division of the GaDOE, Ms. Mamie Hanson at mhanson@doe.k12.ga.us or by telephone at 404-657-6279, rather than the Academic Testing Division of the GaDOE.
Thank you for your continued support with this initiative.
STEM Update

The Georgia Department of Education is initiating the Georgia Alliance of STEM Teachers bringing CTAE, math, and science teachers of STEM disciplines under one umbrella. The state department will conduct webinars, workshop opportunities, presentations, and create a common listserv designed to expose teachers to a variety of STEM experiences. Check out the STEM Twitter page at http://www.twitter.com/stemgeorgia The following are considered to be STEM disciplines: Classification of STEM Disciplines

CTAE directors are reminded that all CTAE Federal and State Grants must be completed and signed-off by September 30, 2010, for the system to be eligible to receive grant funds. Directors, please review your Program Status screen to ensure all your grants show a status of either "Approved," "Program Manager Sign-off," or "Superintendent sign-off." In events where a grant shows "Program Manager Revision Requested," or "Superintendent Revision Requested," review your audit trail and make the required revisions, save the changes, and sign-off. You will then notify your superintendent to complete the sign-off process. If a system fails to comply with this request, they risk losing all or some of their grant funds. Note: If your system has received the Industry Certification Equipment Related Grant, there is only 1 sign-off, which is on the budget tab.
Construction-Related Equipment Grants Please remember that you have to include (by uploading) a copy of the FY11 CREQ grant agreement in your Consolidated Application before signing off on the grant. Also, remember that both the CTAE Coordinator and the Superintendent have to sign off on both (Program Information and Budget) sides of the grant. All purchases require pre-approval.
Industry Certification Related Equipment Grants Just for clarification, there is no sign off on the Program Information side of this grant. Upload a copy of the grant agreement under the appropriate tab on the Program Information side in your Consolidated Application, complete the budget detail then both the CTAE Coordinator and the Superintendent sign off. Grant funds will be made available for reimbursements AFTER the program has successfully completed the certification process. All purchases require pre-approval.
FY10 OCR Compliance Review Documentation Selected systems that have not completed their FY10 OCR Compliance Reviews by providing the required documentation have been notified. This information is needed to complete the compliance review process.
Please contact Dr. Dennis Clarke at 404-805-5634 or dclarke@doe.k12.ga.us if you have any questions.

Administrators and counselors are welcome to attend and participate with their choice of program area breakout meetings. GA TSA The first installment of the GA TSA year was held with teachers who attended the GACTE affiliate luncheon. We had a wonderful meal, outstanding attendance, and we shared the calendar and a motivational poster promoting opportunities in GA TSA.
The second installment, the Chapter Officer Retreat for Excellence (CORE) was held in Clayton, Georgia, on September 10-12. CORE provided chapter advisors and members a time to develop Programs of Work for the coming year, participate in leadership classes and teambuilding events, gain competition information, and learn how to manage a successful chapter.

Additional installments will include: October 1 TECH Day at the Georgia National Fair November 12-14 - Fall Leadership and Competitive Event Conference March 10-12, 2011 - State Leadership and Competitive Event Conference June 21-25, 2011 - National TSA Conference

The CTAE Program Delivery Team is in the process of conducting regional drive-in meetings around the state. It is our goal to keep Marketing Teachers/DECA advisors apprised of the latest information.
Any information that has been previously shared with Marketing teachers has been incorporated into PowerPoint presentations for the benefit of teachers who could not attend a specific conference/event. The presentations can be accessed on the Georgia Marketing Education Association (GMEA) website at http://www.mygmea.org.
