However, Georgia has opted not to accept the grant funding offered by CASEL. "Social and emotional learning is essential to complementing Georgia's existing school climate efforts, and we will continue working to make learning environments safer, healthier and more positive," said State School Superintendent Richard Woods. "However, it is equally important that we as a state maintain control of our decision making and not place any additional burdens on our schools."
