Georgia teachers invited to Medal of Honor workshops
Based on Medal of Honor recipients' stories, program brings character development into classrooms
October 27, 2014 Georgia educators are invited to register for a Medal of Honor Character Development Program teacher training in their region, each of which will provide all the tools they need to bring the program into their classrooms.
The Medal of Honor Character Development Program is an extensive curriculum based on the oral histories of Medal of Honor recipients. It focuses on values and teaches students to apply the recipients' examples of courage, commitment, sacrifice, integrity, citizenship and patriotism to influence change in their own communities.
Teachers and administrators from middle and high schools across all districts are invited to attend. Attendees will receive the full curriculum kit at no cost, participate in model lessons, and learn best practices for their classrooms. Substitute teacher costs can be reimbursed to the district or school.
"The Medal of Honor program is an incredible resource for Georgia teachers, and a firm foundation for our students, who grow strong in character as they learn from some of the stories of courage and resolve that built our nation," Superintendent Dr. John Barge said.
