COVID-19 Dashboard and New Research
Following the Georgia Tourism Summit, we updated the Explore Georgia COVID19 dashboard and published new research reports. In the latest dashboard, which covers July and August, you will find statistics for the state's tourism industry along with visitor insights. In Georgia, we're seeing employment, travel spending, and visitation conditions all continuing on an upward trend, and we're seeing improved optimism about travel. The new research reports cover COVID-related forecasting from Tourism Economics and real-time arrivals in the state from Arrivalist.

Georgia Tourism Forecast Scenarios, September 2020
This report from Tourism Economics anticipates COVID-19 related impacts on the Georgia tourism industry through 2022. This report can be used to inform strategic planning, grant applications and other funding opportunities, stakeholder and partner communications, and more. Three different forecast scenarios project losses in visitor spending, jobs, payroll, tax revenues, and lodging sector KPIs.
Georgia Year-Over-Year Trends in Arrivals March to July 2019-2020, September 2020
This overview from Arrivalist shows year-over-year and week-over-week changes to the Georgia overnight, same day, in-state, and out-of-state trip segments during the first five months of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Staying informed on visitor trends, forecasts, and data is important for strategic planning, especially now. If you have any questions or need additional information about our research or reports, please contact Director of Research Ashley Barfield at ABarfield@georgia.org.

All VICs Now Open
After an extended closure due to COVID-19, all nine state Visitor Information Centers (VICs) are now open. The Port Wentworth VIC near Savannah resumed operation last Wednesday and safely welcomed more than 18,000 visitors in the first five days.
Keeping the safety of employees, guests, and visitors as top priority, Explore Georgia has instituted new policies and operational procedures to maintain a safe, sanitized and secure space at each of our VICs. For many motorists, our VICs are their first stop in the state. We want to ensure we have safety measures that will inspire confidence in every visitor and provide the best travel experience, which is essential for us to move through the recovery process.
Recently, Governor Brian Kemp stopped to visit the Columbus VIC and see firsthand the new safety measures we have in place.
Daily operation of the VICs will remain predicated on the most up-to-date public health guidelines from the Governor's office and the Georgia Department of Public Health. Should new guidance be issued, the VICs will comply accordingly.
If you have any questions or need additional information about the VICs, please contact Director of Visitor Services Brittney Gray at BGray@georgia.org.
