Explore Georgia Update
Explore Georgia Partners,
I am writing today to update you on a leadership change in our tourism division.
Earlier this month, Interim Deputy Commissioner of Tourism and Division Director Lisa Love resigned to pursue a new opportunity in the music industry for which she has a deep love and expertise. While this is an incredible opportunity for Lisa, we will certainly miss her contributions. Under Lisa's direction, the team has implemented a robust strategic plan and vision for advancing Georgia tourism in the coming years. She has also assembled a strong Explore Georgia team that will continue to execute on the plan. Lisa is committed to working with us to ensure a smooth transition.
Since Lisa has been filling two roles since Kevin Langston's retirement, filling the Deputy Commissioner position is my top priority now. Once that role is filled, we will work with the new Deputy to fill the remaining vacancies in the tourism division. We do not anticipate making any significant organizational or strategic changes.
During this transition, I have the utmost confidence in the tourism directors to lead the division. Each of the program directors will be reporting to me and the GDEcD leadership team; COO Bert Brantley, CFO John Moffatt, and Director of Human Resources Karen Hampton will be involved in the tourism director's day-to-day work and we will be actively supporting them as we move forward, together.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or any of the GDEcD senior leadership team. I look forward to seeing you on January 21st for Tourism, Hospitality and Arts Day at the Capitol.
Happy Holidays to you and your families, and best wishes for 2020.
