January 2018
January has already marked the launch of the U.S. Civil Rights Trail, which includes 11 landmarks across Georgia, and the re-designation of the Martin Luther King. Jr National Historic Site as Georgia's first National Historical Park. Both of these achievements will foster a much greater awareness of the immersive and thought-provoking experiences available to visitors across our state from Albany to Atlanta. I want to recognize and thank Travel South for its leadership role in this initiative. When we gather together each year for Tourism, Hospitality and Arts Day, we are enhancing awareness among elected officials for not only the significant economic impact the tourism industry generates for the state, but also for our role in encapsulating, interpreting and sharing Georgia's history and stories. I look forward to seeing you all at the Georgia State Capitol next Tuesday morning!
