1. Georgia communities receive funding for tourism and arts The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) has awarded $200,000 in product development agreements to 10 tourism and art entities across the state. Georgia Tourism and Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA), both divisions of the GDEcD, partnered again this year in order to continue to maximize the Tourism Product Development program.
2. Deal honors individuals for achievements in the arts and humanities Gov. Deal presented the third annual Governor's Awards for the Arts and Humanities at the Capitol this month. Thirteen Georgia citizens and organizations were recognized for their significant contributions to innovation and growth of the state's civic and cultural vitality. The awards were presented in partnership with the Georgia Council for the Arts and Georgia Humanities Council. Congratulations, award winners!
3. ComeTourGeorgia.com honored with a 2014 WebAward ComeTourGeorgia.com, the source for news about what is filming in Georgia and where to find Georgia places made famous in movies and TV shows, has earned a 2014 "Outstanding Website" award from the Web Marketing Association. The award is presented jointly to the Georgia Department of Economic Development, and the site's developer, Miles, a leading hospitality and travel marketing agency. Check out the site and share it with visitors interested in seeing Georgia's famous filming locations!
4. Order 2014 Georgia Travel Guides for your fall events - while supplies last! Get copies of the 2014 Georgia Travel Guide, featuring the 75th anniversary of Gone With the Wind, while supplies last! Share the commemorative edition with visitors to your fall events and with colleagues at trade shows and conferences. Pick up extra copies of the guide at the Visitor Information Center nearest you, or contact your Tourism Project Manager to make arrangements.
5. Now available: TripAdvisor icons on ExploreGeorgia.org listings Share your online reviews with Georgia travelers more easily with direct links to TripAdvisor from your ExploreGeorgia.org profile pages. Login to the ExploreGeorgia.org Partner Admin system to add your TripAdvisor link in the social media section of your listings, and after your updates are approved, the TripAdvisor icon will appear next to the other social media icons (Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, and Google+) on your ExploreGeorgia.org pages. Update your pages today!
6. Farewell, Nerissa! On Oct. 23, Georgia Tourism will bid farewell to Research Director Nerissa Serrano-Okiye, who is moving to Florida to be the new Tourism and Marketing Manager for Martin County.
