1. RSVP for Tourism Day at the Capitol Events: Jan. 27-28* Plan to join us for the 2014 Tourism, Hospitality & Arts Day at the Capitol Monday, January 27 and Tuesday, January 28, 2014. Everyone in the travel and tourism industry, including frontline employees, sales teams and CEOs from all over the state, are invited to support and participate in this important event. RSVP for the events you plan to attend, reserve your hotel room, and request your supply of 2014 Travel Guides today!
2. Grant guidelines available from the Georgia Council for the Arts Georgia Council for the Arts' (GCA) FY15 grant guidelines are now available. Online grant workshops will take place in January, and grant applications are due Feb. 4, 2014. In FY14, GCA distributed just under $1 million to 66 arts organizations throughout the state. Begin pulling together your application today!
3. Commissioner Carr explores Georgia GDEcD Commissioner Chris Carr and department staff members visited several regions of the state in early January. Carr joined GDEcD as commissioner in November 2013. Read more about the trip and see a photo of the commissioner at BabyLand General Hospital. Thanks to everyone who helped welcome the commissioner in his new role!
4. Coming soon: Sales leads from the American Bus Association Marketplace 2014* Priti Shah and Nerissa Serrano attended the American Bus Association Marketplace 2014 in Nashville this month and will post leads from their appointments to marketgeorgia.org by the end of the month. In the meantime, review leads from other recent trade shows, including the Ontario Motorcoach Association, Rejuvenate Marketplace and the North Carolina/Virginia Motorcoach Association. Use the leads to target new business in 2014.

Farewell, Dot!
Dot Davis, manager of the Sylvania and Savannah Visitor Information Centers, is retiring Jan. 31, 2014, after 34 years with Georgia Tourism. Dot has been a tremendous asset to Georgia, and we always knew our visitors were in good hands with her. It's more than just Dot's hard work we will miss. For 34 years she has brought a caring, positive attitude to her job, and we will all miss her influence. Please join us in congratulating Dot on her long-awaited and richly deserved retirement! ddavis@georgia.org
