The Great Locomotive Chase Part II
Part II of The Great Locomotive Chase kicks off in Adairsville on April 12, 1862 where the locomotive the Texas was acquired by Conductor Fuller and crew. They chased the General through northwest Georgia to its conclusion 18 miles south of Chattanooga, TN.

Events
Ringgold Depot Constructed in 1849, the Ringgold Depot is one of the oldest in Georgia and the last depot passed by Andrew's Raiders during The Great Locomotive Chase. The depot was damaged during the Battle of Ringgold Gap.

KSU Symposium on New Interpretations of the Civil War: '1862: The Path to Freedom' Kennesaw State University will present the 9th Annual Symposium on New Interpretations of the Civil War `1862: The Path to Freedom' on March 23 and 24. Renowned Civil War Historians Ken Noe, Wiley Sword, Jeff Wert and Brian Willis will be featured.

Wartime Stories

Colonel Lemuel P. Grant Grant was named Chief Engineer of the Confederate Department of Georgia and designed the massive encirclement of earth works that protected the city during Sherman's siege. In 1882, Grant donated 100 acres of land to the City of Atlanta that became Grant Park.
