100% Refreshed & Ready - Congratulations DCH Staff

Just a few short weeks ago, DCHNOW brought you the news about the challenge to all staff to complete the "Refreshed & Ready" Summer Refreshment Training on ethics, open records and HIPAA privacy and security compliance before July 1. Despite record-breaking temperatures and humidity this summer, 100% of our DCH Team is now "Refreshed & Ready." All 659 DCH employees have completed the "Refreshed & Ready" Summer Refreshment Training campaign.

Publications That Make a Difference
One of the best ways to reach our program participants is through our DCH publications. Recently, Medicaid publications such as PeachCare for Kids, Money Follows the Person and Home and Community Services: A Guide to Medicaid Waiver Programs in Georgia were updated. No Summer Vacation for Legislative Affairs
Summer vacation? Not in DCH's Office of Legislative and External Affairs. The six-person staff stays busy even when the Georgia General Assembly is not in session.
"The month after the session is our quietest, because of the time it takes to digest the legal requirements from new laws," said Jesse Weathington, director of Legislative and External Affairs. "Even though the session consists of 40 legislative days, these are spread over four months, and it's pretty much non-stop 12- and 13-hour days throughout that time." Read more
Will the New Cigarette Packaging Make You Stop Smoking? Take the Survey

Recently, the Federal Food and Drug Administration told cigarette manufacturers to drastically change their product packaging. Instead of having a whole package for brand identity, their new packaging is now required to include realistic photographs of smokers who are experiencing the not-so-glamorous side of smoking. Explicit images include a smoker suffering from cancer of the mouth and teeth, one who has to use an artificial means of breathing and more. Read more
