PROFILE CORNER

GOOD-BYE GEORGIA . . . HELLO SBCCI!

By Andrea Lanier

It is with mixed emotions that I have bid good-bye to the Department of Community Affairs and all my friends in code enforcement throughout the State of Georgia at least in my capacity as Manager of Construction Codes and Industrialized Buildings. I have accepted a position with the Southern Building Code Congress International (SBCCI) as their Director of Government Affairs. This was not an easy decision. However, this was an opportunity I could not afford to pass up.

This is a very exciting time for building codes in the United States. As Director of Government Affairs, I will be working with state and local governments in all of SBCCI's member states in the implementation of the International Codes and the code enforcement process. I will also be involved in legislative matters dealing with various building code issues.

One of the best things about my new position is that I will continue to work with Georgia code officials. I will be attending some meetings around the state. I am still available to answer your questions regarding construction codes and the issues surrounding them. Please feel free to contact me at SBCCI in Birmingham at any time. The telephone number is 205-591-1853. My e-mail address is alanier@sbcci.org. And yes, I have moved to Birmingham!

Andrea Lanier
building inspection departments around the State of Georgia are the greatest bunch of people I have ever worked with. I look forward to working with you even more in the future.

I have met so many of you during my years at DCA and you have meant so much to me. I have said it before and I will say it again: the folks in the
