and Girls Clubs of America
Joyce Stevens, DCA Board member from the Seventh Congressional District, and member of the State Housing Trust Fund Commission, presented Commissioner Beatty the 2012 CARE (Children Are the Reason for Excellence) Award at the Alliance and Regional Council of Boys & Girls Clubs awards luncheon. The Alliance and Regional Council of Boys and Girls Clubs of Georgia present this annual award to an individual, donor, or corporation to recognize outstanding efforts that impact the lives of children who need us most. Over the years, each recipient has made a significant difference for Boys & Girls Clubs across the State of Georgia.
Commissioner Beatty, through Georgia's Community Development Block Grant Program, has played a pivotal role in providing the seed capital to leverage private funds for the construction of Boys & Girls Clubs facilities in Georgia communities. CDBG funds can be used to construct publically-owned facilities in low-to-moderate-income neighborhoods. "I'm honored by this award," commented Commissioner Beatty, "but more importantly, I'm proud of the partnerships between communities and the Boys and Girls Clubs; working together to improve the lives of children in Georgia, and I'm proud of the Department's role in helping to fund these projects."

The Georgia Funding for CDFIs program has made loans to twelve small businesses, leveraging additional private financing of $11.3 million. The Georgia Small Business Credit Guarantee (SBCG) has used $80,000 for loan guarantees for seven small business loans, leveraging $1.5 million in additional private financing. As the SSBCI program administrator for the State of Georgia, the Department is committed to using the $47.8 million from the US Treasury to help small businesses with their financial needs, and doing so by December 2016.

All local governments and agencies administering public benefits in Georgia are required by law to submit an annual report of the public benefits they administer and note each public benefit for which SAVE authorization for verification has not been received. The Department of Community Affairs will provide a list of all agencies, organizations and governments that have duly reported to the Governor's office on November 10, 2012, to close out the 2011 reporting period.
As a result of the recent Attorney General clarification on the official reporting period for Public Benefits Reporting, the Department invites all governments and agencies to enter the Public Benefits Reporting System and complete reports for 2011, to ensure compliance for the twelve month period of December 1, 2010, through November 30, 2011.
The system will be open until November 1, 2012, for the 2011 reporting period. To register and/or complete a 2011 Report, click HERE.

"Ted has worked hard to gain the trust and respect of Georgia's Homebuilders," said Commissioner Mike Beatty.
