Georgia MSB License Transition to the NMLS/Renewals
If you have not yet transitioned to renew your Georgia MSB license, your license will expire on December 31, 2014. License Certificates may be accessed on our website.
All transition request must be made through the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) by December 1, 2014. No paper applications will be accepted.
TRANSITION NOW to avoid delays processing your transition/renewal request.
1. If you do not already have an NMLS number or login, go to NMLS to create a company account. (Click Here)
DO NOT CLICK on the GREEN ANNUAL RENEWAL BUTTON on the top right-hand side of the NMLS Resource Center. This button is for our Mortgage Licensees only.
2. Once you receive log-in information from NMLS, complete a Company (MU1) Form for your company.
An MU1 is an electronic form that asks questions about your company. For more information, see or print the Submitting a Company (MU1) Form Quick Guide and Transitioning an Existing Company License.
3. After you have created an MU1 for your company, each owner must complete and attest to an Individual (MU2) Form.
An MU2 is a sub-form of the Company (MU1). If an individual is added into the Direct Owner/Executive Officer or Indirect Owner with Control sections of the Company (MU1), an individual (MU2) is generated and will require completion. For more information, see the Submitting an Individual (MU2) Form Quick Guide.
DO NOT COMPLETE THE MU4 , the Individual (MU4) form is for mortgage loan originator applicants only.
Please be sure to enter your Georgia License Number in the box labeled Existing License Numbers for Transition Only.

For system questions related to NMLS, please contact the NMLS Call Center at 1-855-NMLS-123 (1-855-6657123). Translators are available. Please note that call volume and possible wait times will be higher in November and December. We encourage you to transition onto NMLS as soon as possible. When calling the NMLS Call Center, please indicate you are calling about transitioning your GA Money Service Business license.

Money Transmitter and Seller of Payment Instruments Quarterly Reporting
All Money Transmitter and Seller of Payment Instruments Licensees were emailed directly with instructions on how to complete the online form that is being used for quarterly reporting requirements for the period ending September 30, 2014.
In addition to completing this webform, agent/office information must be uploaded via the UAAR in the NMLS to complete your quarterly reporting. The company MUST transition onto NMLS prior to uploading of the agent/ offices. If you have no agents or offices, you must still report through NMLS. Questions regarding the UAAR should be directed to the NMLS Call Center at 1-855-NMLS-123 (1-855-665-7123).
Please complete and submit both reports by November 14, 2014. Any reports received after the November 14th deadline will be subject to a fine of $1,000.

Rule Changes Effective September 18th
The Department of Banking and Finance (Department) adopted Final Rules on August 29, 2014. The Rules were filed with the Secretary of State on August 29, 2014 and, pursuant to O.C.G.A. 50-13-6, were effective on September 18, 2014. Please review the Final Rules for changes to certain fines and fees.

Upcoming Atlanta Check Cashing Classes
The Department will resume check cashing classes next year. The class benefits first-time and veteran check cashers. Classes are scheduled on Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. and generally last about an hour and a half.

There is no cost for the class and it is a great way to learn about Georgia law, Department regulations, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering requirements. During examinations, those who have attended the class have stated that the knowledge and information they gained helped prevent violations and avoid the imposition of fines. As a further benefit, the Department provides a certificate of attendance that licensees may use as evidence of training received on BSA and Anti-Money Laundering.
The classes are limited to a maximum of seven attendees, so you must make an advance reservation by calling 770-986-1639 or emailing tkoeppel@dbf.state.ga.us. Reserve your seat NOW! We look forward to seeing you.
