based on full truck load lots of ice pack USDA grade "A" sized 2 1/2 to 3 pound birds. 64%

(representing 553 loads) of the loads offered have been confirmed within a range of 49.00 to

56.50 with a preliminary weighted average of 53. 90 f. o. b. dock or equivalent. The market

continues moderate to somewhat firm and the live supply is adequate for a normal to very good,

mostly good demand.

Average weights are desirable to occasionally light. Estimated

slaughter today is 2,511,600 head. This compares with 4,244,500 head last weekend. Some

plants are not operating today due to the holiday.

The f.o.b. dock confirmed preliminary weighted average prices on ice pack parts based on truck load and pool truck load lots for this week's trading are : skinless boneless breasts $2.2050 (based on 1,606,000 lbs.); whole breasts $1.1150 (based on 2,664,000 lbs.); leg quarters 24.00 (based on 6,157,000 lbs. ); and wings 39.00 (based on 1,596,000 lbs.). Demand on a ll parts is very good to normal, mostly good to very good; with t he exception of wings which ranges light to occasionally good, mostly light to normal.

Trading on heavy breeder type hens was light. The market is higher with offerings generally adequate for trade needs. Estimated slaughter for the week ending today is 13 3,800 head. This compares with 174,800 head the same time a year ago. Prices paid at farm on 7 pounds and over for this week's slaughter were l4.00. The projected slaughter for next week is 28,500 head. Negotiated prices for next week's slaughter are l6.00.

ESTIMATED SLAUGHTER FOR THE WEEK ENDING TODAY : Broilers and fryers are 16,139,700 head. This compares with 14.510.100 head of broilers and fryers for the correspond ing week a year ago.

Estimated slaughter today and Saturday is 3,608,300 head. This compares with 3,357,400 head last Friday .

The f.o.b. dock confirmed preliminary weighted average prices on ice pack parts based on truck load and pool truck load lots for this week's trading are: skinless boneless breasts $2.2850 (based on 1,328,000 lbs.); whole breasts $1.1650 (based on 2,305,000 lbs.); leg quarters 20.50 (based on 5,922,000 lbs.); and wings 39.50 (based on 1,281,000 lbs.).
