Agricultural Summary COLD TEMPERATURES
The State experienced low temperatures in the 20's for most of last week, according to the Georgia Agricultural Statistics Service. Winter grazing growth continued to be affected by the cold weather. Hay feeding to livestock continued to increase due to declining pasture conditions. Small grains and vegetables benefitted from weekend rains. County Extension Agents reported an average of 5.8 days suitable for fieldwork.
Growers began preparing for planting spring crops. Greenhouse tobacco transplants appeared in good condition. Other activities included cotton stalk shredding, taking soil and poultry litter samples, harrowing fields, and the routine care of livestock and poultry.

DISTRICT 1 - NORTHWEST No comments available.
DISTRICT 2 - NORTH CENTRAL We have had plenty of rain this week.
DISTRICT 3 - NORTHEAST Rain Saturday night through Sunday late PM.
DISTRICT 4 - WEST CENTRAL Routine care of livestock & poultry.
DISTRICT 5 - CENTRAL Cold morning temperatures in the 20's most of the week. Small grains and winter grazing needing rain. Hay feeding to livestock continues to increase due to declining pasture (winter grazing) conditions.
Cold conditions have slowed winter annual growth. We have not seen any growth in these crops.
DISTRICT 6 - EAST CENTRAL No comments available.
DISTRICT 7 - SOUTHWEST Cotton stalk mowing and field cultivation. Preparation for spring planting. Wheat growth slow, overall good condition.
DISTRICT 8 - SOUTH CENTRAL Dry. Taking soil samples and poultry litter samples. Rye and winter grazing are not growing as fast as it should. Spreading chicken litter on fields.
Harrowing fields. Feeding cattle supplemental feed, etc. Normal winter temperatures. Greenhouse tobacco transplants looking good. Field work is being done in preparation of planting spring crops.
DISTRICT 9 - SOUTHEAST Rain needed for small grains and vegetables.
