FIELDWORK ACTIVE
*CROP HIGHLIGHTS++
Most of Georgia received near normal to slightly below normal temperatures throughout the week. In many counties, temperatures improved overall crop and planting conditions. Soil moisture levels were short to adequate according to the Georgia Agricultural Statistics Service. Tobacco transplanting and corn planting were active in many parts of the state. In some counties, cold weather caused the loss of peach and apple blooms. Growers `applied herbicides to pastures and hayfields. Small grain conditions improved. Growers were preparing land for cotton and oeanuts. Counties also ?eported that pasture and iayfield c o n d i t i o n s :ontinued to improve.
Zounty Extension Officials *eported an average of 6.6 days suitable for fieldwork. 3ther activities included spraying pecan trees, spreading poultry litter on lastures, and the routine :are of livestock and 1oultry.
