BROILERS PLACED IN GEORGIA UP 3 PERCENT BROILER EGGS SET UP 1 PERCENT
Placement of broiler chicks in Georgia during the week ending June 12, 2010 was 27.6 million, down 1 percent from the previous week, but up 3 percent from the comparable week last year, according to the USDA, NASS, Georgia Field Office.
An estimated 32.4 million broiler type eggs were set by Georgia hatcheries, up 1 percent from the previous week and up 1 percent from the comparable week a year earlier. Broiler-type chicks hatched during the week totaled 27.1 million, up slightly from the previous week and up 2 percent from the comparable week a year earlier. Average hatchability for chicks hatched in Georgia was 83 percent.
