BROILERS PLACED IN GEORGIA UP 6 PERCENT BROILER EGGS SET UP 12 PERCENT
Placement of broiler chicks in Georgia during the week ending October 2, 2010 was 27.6 million, down 1 percent from the previous week, but up 6 percent from the comparable week last year, according to the USDA, NASS, Georgia Field Office.
An estimated 30.7 million broiler type eggs were set by Georgia hatcheries, down 5 percent from the previous week, but up 12 percent from the comparable week a year earlier. Broiler-type chicks hatched during the week totaled 27.0 million, up 1 percent from the previous week and up 5 percent from the comparable week a year earlier.
