BROILERS PLACED IN GEORGIA UP 13 PERCENT BROILER EGGS SET UP 6 PERCENT
Placement of broiler chicks in Georgia during the week ending November 28 was 25,606,000, up 7 percent from the previous week and up 13 percent from the comparable week last year, according to the Georgia Agricultural Statistics Service.
An estimated 31,846,000 broiler type eggs were set by Georgia hatcheries, up slightly from the previous week and up 6 percent from the comparable week a year earlier.
Placement of broiler chicks in the 15 reporting States totaled 136,799,000, up 1 percent from the previous week and up 1 percent from the comparable week last year. Broiler type hatching eggs set were 179,976,000, up slightly from the previous week and up 3 percent from the corresponding week a year earlier. Average hatchability for chicks hatched during the week was 81 percent. Average hatchability is calculated by dividing chicks hatched during the week by eggs set three weeks earlier.
