BROILERS PLACED IN GEORGIA UP 5 PERCENT BROILER EGGS SET UP 8 PERCENT
Placement of broiler chicks in Georgia during the week ending October 10 was 23,613,000-1 percent less than the previous week but 5 percent more than the comparable week last year, according to the Georgia Agricultural Statistics Service.
An estimated 31,156,000 broiler type eggs were set by Georgia hatcheries-I percent less than the previous week but 8 percent more than the comparable week a year earlier.
Placement ofbroiler chicks in the 15 reporting States totaled 131,006,000-1 percent less than the previous week and slightly less than the comparable week last year. Broiler type hatching eggs set were 170,213,000-2 percent less than the previous week but 3 percent more than the corresponding week a year earlier. Average hatchability for chicks hatched during the week was 80 percent. Average hatchability is calculated by dividing chicks hatched during the week by eggs set three weeks earlier.
