Roger Wood Foods Recalls More Sausages Georgia Ag. Dept. Expands Search
ATLANTA Georgia Department of Agriculture inspectors are looking for more kinds of Roger Wood sausages following the Savannah company's expansion of the list of products possibly contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, Commissioner Tommy Irvin announced today.
"Anyone who has any of the sausages or wieners identified in this recall should return them to where they purchased them," Commissioner Irvin said. "Our sanitarians are following up with distributors and other possible outlets to make sure that all of the suspected meats are withheld from sale."
Roger Wood Foods, Inc. of Savannah, voluntarily recalled 16-oz. packages of Roger Wood Beef Smoked Sausage, code 469D, with a sell by date of May 13, 2005, after Georgia Department of Agriculture food scientists Saturday confirmed Listeria monocytogenes in a routine target sample.
The company's expanded list of some 10,700 pounds includes other packaged meats produced March 10, 2005 in the plant identified on the label as "EST. 8025" or "P-8025" and with the date code "Sell By 5/13/2005." The suspect products also were shipped to Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina.
The expanded list includes the following:
1 lb. packages of "ROGER WOOD Preferred Recipe, BEEF Smoked Sausage." 2.5 lb. packages of "ROGER WOOD, GREAT GRILLERS, smoked sausage, made
with chicken, turkey, pork and beef." 5 lb. packages of "ROGER WOOD, FAMILY PAK, Chicken, Pork and Beef
Wieners." 3 lb. packages of ROGER WOOD, FAMILY PAK, Chicken, Pork and Beef Wieners." 4 lb. packages of "ROGER WOOD, FAMILY PAK, Chicken, Pork and Beef
Wieners."
