Allergy Alert

Potstickers May Contain Shrimp, Not Beef

ATLANTA Day-Lee Foods Inc., Santa Fe Springs, California has voluntarily recalled some 2,520 pounds of one-pound bags of its potstickers because they may contain shrimp, the Georgia Department of Agriculture announced today.

The product being recalled is labeled "DAY-LEE PRIDE BEEF GYOZA POTSTICKERS, VEGETABLE AND BEEF DUMPLINGS." Each bag bears the code "28004," as well as "Est. 17309" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

"Those allergic to shrimp should be particularly alert to this mislabeling," Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Tommy Irvin warned. "Anyone who has the product should return it to the place where it was purchased for a refund."

The gyozas were produced October 6, 2004, and shipped to five states, including Georgia, California, Colorado, Maryland, New York and Washington.

Commissioner Irvin said that the department's sanitarians will look for the product during regular inspections and remove it from sale to the public.

Consumers and media with questions about the recall may contact Day-Lee General Manager Mark Miller at (562) 802-6801.
