Grand Total : 44 Counties, 148 Cases

Recent occurrences of hog cholera have necessitated the re-imposing of a statewide quarantine regulating the movement of feeder and breeder swine. Although the cooperation of the farmer, auction barn operators and veterinarians has been excellent, the incidence of cholera has been high and steps had to be taken to protect the hog industry in Georgia.
Effective Monday, August 26, permits are required for the movement of any feed er or breeder pigs. Special feeder pig sales announced several days in advance will be set up over the state. All pigs sent to sale must first be checked on the farm.
Special breeder swine sales may also be conducted provided permit is obtained from the state veterinarian's office at the Georgia Department of Agriculture in Atlanta.
Permits may be obtained from the state veterinarian's office for exhibiting swine at fairs and shows. The request for a permit should be accompanied by official health certificate from the local veterinarian, showing herd health status.
Hogs ready for slaughter are not re stricted and may move directly to the live stock auction barns for sale or directly to the slaughtering house.
Any farmer or livestock dealer violating this quarantine will be promptly prosecuted as has been the case on violators in the past.
Due to the cooperation of farmers and others, Georgia has made great progress in the eradication of cholera; however, in order to stamp out cholera completely, the re-imposing of the statewide quarantine is necessary at this time.
The Georgia cholera eradication program is part of a nationwide program. The United States is one of the few countries in the world still infected with cholera. Canada and Great Britain are two of the most recent countries to eradicate the costly swine disease.

How To Remove Stains
PKETREAT SOILED AREAS
Before you wash, check for stains. Look for: Oily stains on synthetics, resin-finished fabrics, and blends. Soiled areas such as shirt collars and cuffs, and knees of children's clothes.
Pretreat stains before washing; washing may set stains permanently.
To pretreat stains, make a paste of water and detergent or use full-strength liquid detergent. Rub or brush this into soiled area. Important -- use the same detergent in this pretreatment as you use in the washer. Do not mix detergents. Caution -- do not use chlorine bleach on resin-finished fabrics unless the manufacturer states on the label that it is safe to do so.
GENERAL RULES FOR REMOVING STAINS
Treat stain while it is fresh. Identify stain and fiber. Test for color change and fabric damage on scrap of fabric before using any stain remover. Avoid hot water on unknown stain. Work carefully and patiently. Use light, brushing motions. Rinse well and dry rapidly.
