An Open Letter To All Tobacco Warehousemen
Dear Gentlemen:
When the 1967 tobacco season opens in Georgia on July 26, it is expected that Georgia's tobacco crop will exceed the total amount of Georgia and Carolina tobacco sold in this state last year, 131 million pounds.
In addition, out-of-state shipments of tobacco into Georgia warehouses have increased over the past three years from 15,911,813 pounds in 1964 to 25,754,123 pounds in 1965 to 39,657,830 pounds in 1966.
These two factors, coupled with today's rules and regulations for selling tobacco, lead me to request you to give priority to Georgia tobacco sold in your warehouse this season.
Your respect of this request will be appreciated by me and by the tobacco growers in your area.
Yours truly,
PHIL CAMPBEL
